Email confirmation link expired? Check these two timers

Updated 1 November 2026.

A confirmation link can expire even while your temporary inbox is still active. The sender controls its verification link; 1hemail controls access to your inbox.

The inbox timer and link timer are independent

Your initial 1hemail inbox lasts 60 minutes from creation. The website that sent a confirmation email may give its link a different lifetime, allow it only once or replace it after another request. Reading the message does not change those sender-side rules. Extending an inbox also does not renew a confirmation link that the sender has already invalidated.

If you received several confirmation emails

Check which registration request you are completing and use the relevant recent message. Some senders invalidate earlier links after a resend; others handle them differently. Do not keep clicking every old link or repeatedly requesting new ones. Read the sender’s error and follow its resend instructions once where appropriate. A new inbox address is not a substitute for understanding which account the message belongs to.

If clicking opens the wrong browser or account

A confirmation workflow may depend on the browser session that began registration. If you started signup on a computer but read mail on a phone, the sender may ask you to sign in or restart part of the process. Follow the sender’s normal workflow. The Open on phone feature shares inbox access; it does not transfer cookies or login sessions from the website you are registering with.

If the link looks broken in formatted mail

Switch to plain text and check whether the sender included a readable URL. A filtered viewer can remove unsafe links and omit unsupported formatting. Do not reconstruct a suspicious URL by guessing missing characters, paste private confirmation links into public debugging tools, or disable browser security warnings. If this is an application you own, inspect the original .eml and compare the generated URL with the URL your application expected.

If no message arrived at all

That is a delivery problem rather than an expired-link problem. Confirm the address spelling and whether the website accepts temporary email, then use the missing verification email checklist. The page polling every five seconds does not guarantee that a sender will deliver within its own link-validity window.

When to switch to a lasting address

If the account will matter after today, update it to an address you control while you still have access. Do not depend on a disposable inbox for recovery, billing or ongoing notifications. An expired or deleted 1hemail inbox cannot be revived; see recovery limits. Developers needing repeatable link-click tests can evaluate a supported testing service: Mailinator documents automated email interactions; 1hemail currently offers manual receiving rather than a public automation API.
