Can you recover an expired temporary email inbox?
Updated 1 November 2026.
An expired or deleted 1hemail inbox cannot be recovered. Closing a tab is different: the same browser can reopen an active inbox while its stored token remains available.
First check whether it actually expired
Look at the remaining time and the page status. Closing the tab does not itself delete an active inbox. Reopen 1hemail in the same browser profile and device. If the token is still in local storage and the server expiry has not passed, the page can restore access. Private browsing sessions, cleared site data and a different browser profile can lose that local token.
Why typing the old address does not restore access
An address is a delivery destination, not a login credential. 1hemail requires the original access token. Support cannot reconstruct that token from an address. Creating a new inbox produces a different address and does not recover messages from an old one. Do not repeatedly request password resets for an account whose only email address has already expired.
Can an extension revive an expired inbox?
No. Use the extension control while the inbox is active and confirm the resulting expiry time after payment verification. A paid hour is not a backup or recovery service. If a checkout return shows a problem, do not pay repeatedly; keep the receipt and contact support. The extension guide explains the one-extension limit.
Do other providers have different recovery rules?
Some services document restoring an address under specific conditions. EmailOnDeck describes a token-based recovery flow. That should not be read as a promise that deleted historical messages return. Provider policies differ, so check the original service and its current conditions. Research checked 1 November 2026.
Avoid losing something important
Before the timer ends, download the original .eml and any needed attachments to a device you control. If a trial becomes an account you want to keep, change its email to a durable address while you can still access it. Save confirmations you need, and use permanent email for banking, government services, licences, receipts and long-term account recovery. Downloaded copies remain on your device after server cleanup; manage them separately.
