1hemail vs Maildrop: access, lifetime and use cases
Reviewed 31 October 2026.
Compare the published features and practical trade-offs before choosing a temporary inbox.
How the two workflows differ
Maildrop lets a visitor make up a mailbox name and open that mailbox without signing up. This is a different access model from a mailbox protected by a separate token. Provider documentation was reviewed on 31 October 2026. These are published features, not a delivery benchmark or a claim about every plan.
When to choose each service
A named public mailbox can work for non-sensitive testing, but a name should not be treated as a secret. 1hemail requires its access token, not just the email address, to read messages. Neither workflow is appropriate for banking or long-term account recovery.
What a one-hour inbox includes
1hemail provides browser-based receiving with no account registration after a human check. New messages are polled every five seconds. Detected numeric codes have copy buttons, small attachments can be downloaded, and the original message can be saved as .eml. Remote images in formatted mail are blocked until you allow them. These features do not prove that a sender will accept the address or deliver a message.
Before using either option
Try a permitted, low-stakes task first. Check that the whole address was copied, keep access to the inbox and save anything needed before its expiry. Use a durable mailbox for purchases, recovery, financial information and accounts you plan to keep. Do not rely on a temporary inbox to cancel a subscription.
