Temp mail alternatives: choose by the job you need done
Reviewed 31 October 2026.
The right temp mail alternative depends on whether you need a private short session, longer access, forwarding or an automated test API.
Start with the task, not a best-service ranking
For an email OTP, a temporary browser inbox may be enough. For long-term recovery, choose a durable mailbox or an email alias. For automated QA, choose a documented testing API. A service can be good for one task and unsuitable for another; this guide does not rank deliverability or claim that one domain works everywhere.
Short-lived browser inboxes
Compare 10 Minute Mail, Temp Mail and Guerrilla Mail. Check expiry and extension rules. 1hemail starts with one hour, offers a one-time paid extra hour and is receive-only.
Longer access, forwarding and restoration
Review TempMail Plus, Temp Mail.io, DropMail and EmailOnDeck. Longer retention, restoring an address and restoring old messages are different promises. Confirm which is provided before depending on it.
Public inboxes and automated testing
Read the Mailinator, Maildrop, YOPmail and Mail.tm comparisons. Do not put sensitive information in public inboxes. Verify the current API plan, authentication and quotas before integrating a service.
Email aliases for ongoing access
An alias forwards mail to a mailbox you own. SimpleLogin describes receiving and sending through aliases; addy.io describes per-site forwarding addresses that can be disabled. These are adjacent alternatives, not disposable one-hour inboxes. Read temporary email vs email alias.
Check acceptance yourself
A website may reject disposable domains, and messages can be delayed. Use a lasting address when required by the service. Our blocked-address guide explains what a temporary inbox can and cannot fix.
