Temp email with attachments: download files and save .eml
Reviewed 31 October 2026.
1hemail can download attachments up to 5 MB each and save the original email as .eml while the inbox remains active.
Save the right thing
An attachment download saves one file from the message. An .eml download preserves the original email message for an email client or later inspection. A text export saves readable text and is not a substitute for the original MIME message. Save before expiry; downloading does not extend the temporary inbox.
Download an attachment
Create your inbox, request a permitted test message and select it when it arrives. Check the attachment name and size, then download the offered file. Larger attachments may be listed but are not downloadable here. Mailbox quotas and whole-message size limits can prevent a large message from appearing; the attachment limit is not an unlimited total-message allowance.
Keep an original message for QA
Use Download .eml to keep a local copy. Open it in a compatible mail application when you need headers, encoding or MIME structure. An exported message can contain private codes and addresses, so store it carefully and redact it before sharing a bug report. For template checks, see the manual testing guide.
Why an image may be missing
Formatted mail blocks remote images by default. A blocked remote image is not necessarily a missing attachment. Allowing images may contact a sender-controlled server; only enable them when appropriate. Unusual encodings and oversized messages can also affect display.
Files are not automatically safe
An inbox receiving a file is not a malware verdict. Verify the sender and expected file type. Do not open unexpected executable files. On a shared device, remember that downloaded attachments and .eml files remain on that device after the server inbox expires.
